This distinctive and especially sweet sugar does not melt when baked and retains its appearance after baking. Small grains of granulated white sugar are polished to a pearl like finish. Lars Own Swedish Pearl Sugar is used to make traditional Belgian waffles.
When the sugar is added to the dough, the sugar caramelizes and creates pockets of sweetness. Pearled sugar adds a decorative touch to baked goods especially when food coloring is added.
