Gingerbread Cakelet Recipe

Prep Time: 0:15 Bake Time: 0:23 Yields: 1-6 servings

- 1/2 cup White Sugar
- 1/2 cup Butter
- 1 Egg
- 1 cup Molasses
- 2 1/2 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 cup hot water

Prep & Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour pan. In a large bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Beat in egg; stir in molasses; set aside. In small bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. Blend into the butter mixture. Stir in the hot water. Divide evenly among wells in pan. Bake 23-28 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pan. Invert onto cooling rack and cool completely. Decorate as desired.
