This is an extremely lovely German Bisque Porcelain couple, circa pre-1940.The young boy and girl are standing in mock wedlock and have a wonderful warmth. Both figurines have the rosy cheeks and high thin eye brows, typical of Gerbruder Heubach. This couple is sequentially numbered and created long before the Berlin wall was erected. The clothes style is typical of figurines out of Germany during the period between ca. 1900 - 1940. The pieces are individual and are offered as a matching and sequentially numbered set, a truly very rare find indeed. This couple has managed to stay together for a very long time. The girl is in remarkable condition and displays only minor wear. No chips scratches or cracks are evident on this piece. The boy, at one time or another, had his head glued back on at the neck and there is a very small nick on the left side of his tuxedo. The repair job was completed with loving care and patience and only viewable at a very close up position. The boy's gloves and boutonnière match the bow around the girl's floral bouquet. But the blush in their faces! My gosh, that alone makes this couple completely adorable and collectible. The pieces are numbered sequentially on the backs of each piece with the boy having “72/12” And the girl is numbered “73/12” Both have the stamp (still very clear) “Germany,” directly under their respective fire numbers. The boy measures 4 3/4” tall and 2 1/4” wide. The girl is also 4 3/4” tall and measures 2 1/8” wide. A very special couple. Please select carefully as wedding toppers are non-refundable.
