Cardinal Cookies How-To
You will need:
- Cardinal Cookie Cutter
- No Fail Sugar Cookie Recipe
- 1 bag royal icing
- Red Sanding Sugar
- 3mm Silver Dragees
- Super Black Gel Food Coloring
- Super Red Gel Food Coloring
- 3 Squeeze Bottles
- Wax or parchment paper

1. Use No Fail Sugar Cookie recipe and cut out several cardinal cookie shapes. Bake on parchment paper and cool as directed.

2. Prepare icing according to instructions on bag. Divide into three bowls with spouts (makes it easier to pour into squeeze bottles). Dye one bowl red, one black and leave one white. Add water until the consistency is somewhere between heavy cream and ketchup. Pour into squeeze bottles.

3. Ice each cookie with 1 layer of red royal icing. Let dry for 1 minute before sprinkling with red sanding sugar. Add silver dragee for eye while cing is still wet. Let Red icing and sanding sugar dry until it crusts over.

4. Add white and black icing to areas as shown in photo. Let icing completely dry (3-6 hours or overnight)

5. Stack and store in an airtight container.
